Egypt: Helping young people learn the language of the future

In Egypt where 60% of the population is under the age of 30, Samsung Innovation Campus allows youth to pick up tech skills that will equip them to lead innovation.

“Adjusting to innovation in a fast-changing world is paramount. Our primary effort is being made to help young people get used to digital languages,” says Moussa Georgy, who leads Samsung Electronics’ corporate citizenship activities for youth education in Egypt. This includes the Samsung Innovation Campus, which equips young people with tech skills for the future.

Moussa stresses that young people need to learn digital languages to lead innovation. He believes that digital technology can address societal challenges that previous generations have been unable to solve.

As in any country, educating the young leaders of the future is an important task for Egypt, where 60% of the population is under the age of 301. “Corporate citizenship officers of Samsung Electronics Egypt like myself felt the need to implement special programmes to lead the youth to create a positive impact on society,” says Moussa. “Digital education, such as programming and coding, had to be included in the programme.”

In Egypt, Samsung Innovation Campus helps students learn about the latest technology. During the covid-19 pandemic, the programme was transformed into a digital hub where students could gain skills through self-learning. Thanks to the efforts of Moussa and Samsung’s technical staff, it has received acclaim from students as an educational programme that enabled them to continue learning even during lockdown.

Moussa believes that in addition to exploring innovative technologies, young people should learn to think as leaders of the future. “While working at Samsung, I was able to learn how to ‘look ahead’ and ‘think tomorrow’,” he says. His message to Egypt’s youth? “I hope you also look to the future and think forward. We are here to help you be more prepared for the long journey ahead.”
